2. First movie I saw in theatres:
A Bug’s Life — I was terrified of the theatre when I was a child, but when I was like six or something I saw this one. I was covering my ears the entire time, it was in imax or something so it was frighteningly loud.
3. Top five movies: this is a hard one and it is constantly changing
5. Fanny and Alexander
4. Buffalo 66 OR Punch Drunk Love (to me they have the same kind of aesthetic, so they’re a tie)
3. The Apartment
2. The Piano Teacher
1. Mulholland Dr.
4. top five directors:
5. TIE of the Andersens — PT and Wes!!
4. Billy Wilder
3. Lars von Trier
2. Ingmar Bergman
1. David Lynch
8. An overrated movie:
Forrest Gump - I mean, I liked it when I was a kid, but I saw it again recently and it was just baffling how silly it was.
9. An underrated movie:
Birdemic: Shock and Terror - I hear about allot of good bad movies (one of my favorite genres) and this one is rarely talked about. The acting is atrocious as well as the directing and the visual effects are so amazingly bad it’s almost poetic. You can watch it on Netflix instant streaming right now if you have that, and I do recommend.
29. A movie from your favorite director you didn’t like:
Lost Highway by David Lynch was a miss for me. But that’s just a personal opinion because it was so in the mid-nineties mindset with that industrial rock soundtrack and all, which felt horribly dirty to me. I think Lynch was just sort of expirimenting, and there’s nothing wrong with that, in fact I praise him for it. Like many David Lynch films one has to take something away from his films to really enjoy it and I didn’t take anything away from Lost Highway except for seeing Patricia Arquette’s boobs (which was fantastic).
